How to use TorSeeker
Search stored onion pages, read the evidence behind a service listing and inspect an archived preview before deciding whether to visit the source.
Search an observation, not a live site
Enter a topic, service name or onion address in search. Results come from text already collected by the crawler. Your search does not trigger a live request to the listed onion service. Use language, category and reachability filters to narrow a broad query.
A title or description is supplied by the source site and may be misleading. A search match is not a recommendation. The service directory also lets you browse and sort the recorded services.
Read the service's observation profile
Open “Observation profile” to see the known onion address, discovery date, checks, indexed pages and outgoing links. Timestamps are shown in UTC. Check the last measurement before treating a status as current.
“Online” means the crawler received a response at its latest health check. It does not establish the operator's identity, the accuracy of the content, a successful transaction or a safe destination. The percentage in the observation panel is the share of successful recorded checks during the last 30 days, not continuous uptime measured every second.
Why several addresses share one group
TorSeeker connects addresses with the same normalized title or matching or highly similar landing-page content. You can open the group to see its other addresses. Shared content may indicate mirrors, copies or repeated templates; the grouping alone cannot establish a shared owner or prove fraud. Groups can change as new observations arrive.
Inspect screenshots without Tor
Archived previews are small, dated images stored by TorSeeker. They are blurred on the server. Selecting a preview first opens a content warning; only accepting that warning reveals the particular image for your current session, for up to ten minutes. Images can contain disturbing or deceptive material.
An archive is not an interactive version of the source site. Scripts and external resources are restricted during capture, so its appearance can differ from the original. An image may be missing because capture is queued, the service is unavailable, or a capture attempt failed. A historical screenshot does not show whether a service works now.
Understand external links
Site-internal links stay in the same tab. The inspection screen provides the full address for manual copying. Only “Open external site with Tor” opens an external address in a new tab. That button cannot switch an ordinary browser into Tor Browser or make a connection safe.
Report an incorrect or harmful listing
Use the content report form and include the onion address and a clear explanation. Do not submit passwords, payment details or other sensitive personal information. Operators can use the operator request form. A submitted report is a request for review; it is not an automatic removal confirmation.
These explanations describe how this project works. For collection limits and risk details, read the methodology. Dataset figures are available in statistics; they describe our observations, not the size of the entire darknet.
